List of English tenses with examples
You can use 16 tenses in English language. They can be divided into 4 groups:
Present tense
Simple present tense - Ben reads book in library.
Continuous present tense - He is studying in a college.
Perfect present tense - She has made that painting.
Present perfect continuous tense - Linda has been working here since 2019.
Past tense
Simple past tense - Grace did the money transfer.
Continuous past tense - He was travelling yesterday in the afternoon.
Perfect past tense - She had completed her task.
Past perfect continuous tense - I had been playing the hockey since 10:30 AM.
Future tense
Simple future tense - I will go on holiday next month.
Continuous future tense - He will be at meeting tomorrow at 11:00.
Perfect future tense - She will have play tennis.
Future perfect continuous tense - Paola will have been exercising for a half an hour.
Past future tense
Simple past future tense - I told him that I would go to lunch before afternoon.
Continuous past future tense - He told him that he would be doing calculations in this week.
Perfect past future tense - She said that she would be have done her task.
Past future perfect continuous tense - Victoria said that Emma should have been doing accounting for 1 hour by that time.
